 | 1950 The Naples Mosquito Control District is created as an independent special taxing district with a three member, elected, Board of Commissioners. The District covers six square miles. |

 | 1951 Truck spraying for larvae and adults begins using personnel and equipment on loan from the City of Naples for the Anti-mosquito program. |
|
 | 1959 Brandt G. Watson is appointed as Director of the Naples Mosquito Control District. |
 | 1961 Property for the original headquarters building at 771 Airport Road is purchased for $5,000 |

 | 1963 The District expands by 92 square miles to include East Naples and North Naples. The District now covers a total of 98 square miles. |

 | 1965 The first Twin Beech airplane is purchased for aerial thermal fogging operations against adult mosquitoes. |
 | 1971 The District expands by 25 square miles to incorporate Golden Gate City. The District now covers 123 square miles. |

 | 1972 The District expands again, this time by 82 square miles, incorporating Marco Island and Isles of Capri. The District now covers 205 square miles. |
|
 | 1976 The NMCD becomes the Collier Mosquito Control District. The District also purchases the first of several Douglas DC-3 aircraft. |

 | 1979 The District purchases Hughes TH-55 and Bell UH-1B (Hueys) helicopters for inspecting and larviciding mosquito breeding sites. |
 | 1982 The District adds Goodland, growing by one square mile to 206 square miles. |

 | 1984 The District joins the computer age by purchasing an IBM System 34 mainframe computer. |
|
 | 1986 An adult mosquito surveillance system is established using New Jersey light traps located at stratigic sites in the District. |

 | 1987 The District purchases Hughes 500D helicopters for making aerial adulticide and larvicide applications. |
|
 | 1988 Brandt G. Watson retires as Director and is replaced by Dr. Frank W. Van Essen. The Board of Commissioners is expanded from three to five elected members. |
|
 | 1989 the District expandes eastward by 36 square miles to 242 square miles. Educational programs are developed and made available to the schools and civic organizations. |
 | 1990 District headquarters is moved to a new facility at 600 North Road, combining headquarters and hangar operations at one site on the Naples Municipal Airport property. |
|
 | 1991 Aerial thermal fogging is discontinued and replaced by ultra low volume (ULV) fogging for adult mosquito control. |
|
 | 1997 The original office building at 771 Airport Road facility is sold for $1,125,000. |
|
 | 1998 Three Short Brothers and Harland Ltd. SC-7 Skyvans are purchased to begin a phased replacement of the District's aging DC-3 fleet. |
 | 2000 The District expands further to the east in Golden Gate Estates, adding 33 square miles, for a total of 275 square miles. |
|
 | 2001 A further eastward expansion into Golden Gate Estates adds another 33 square miles, bringing the Districts area of responsibility to 308 square miles. Phase-in of Skyvans is complete and the last DC-3 is sold. |
|
 | 2003 The Immokalee area becomes a part of the CMCD. This expansion adds 34 square miles to the District, bringing the total to 342 square miles. |
|
 | 2004 The District takes in an additional 59 square miles of the Eastern Golden Gate Estates, an area with a dense tree canopy, for a total coverage area of 401 square miles. |

 | 2005 The Naples Hangar receives a structural upgrade in order to better withstand hurricane force winds, just in time for Hurricane Wilma which hit a few months after the work was completed. |

 | 2007 The Collier Mosquito Control District enters into an Interlocal Agreement with the Ave Maria Stewardship Community District to provide surveillance and treatment for the control of mosquitoes. |
|
